la bonne table.

Graduation celebrations at La Bonne Table! I've been eyeing this place for almost a year now but since it's relatively expensive (for me) I've never been.  Opposite to the fire station on Wakefield Street, it's hard to spot as you drive by since it's not particularly flashy.  It's former life as a carpet/tapestry salehouse can be seen only by the high stone ceilings and the big carpets hanging in the foyer but other than that it has been Cinderella'd into a romantic, candle-lit modern day restaurant.

devour cafe patisserie.

Yay! The new Devour Cafe & Patisserie is finally open.  I've been waiting for this for months now and was not disappointed when a friend and I came to try out their new lunch menu.  It's all the way down in Richmond (near South Road), quite the distance between its sister dessert bar in Prospect, but luckily for me it's close to my church which means....weekly visits?  Hmmm, my wallet won't like that much.

miga.

Cold winter days means I'm more inclined towards something steaming hot or spicy to warm me up.  Korean food satisfies both of those conditions, which was why my family was drawn towards Miga on a wintry weekend afternoon.  It's close to Bread Garden on Payneham Road, and there's a small parking lot behind the restaurant where the back door is open for entry.

mandoo korean dumplings.

Mandoo (which means dumpling in Korean) is a really small shop on Bank Street, just off of North Terrace and Hindley Street.  The dumplings are hand-made daily by the chef and can either be served as fried dumplings with salad or cooked in broth.  On previous occasions I had always ordered the dumplings, but my Korean teacher (whom I was eating with) recommended the bibimbap.

bread garden.

Bread Garden is a bakery which opened up last year on Payneham Road just opposite McDonalds.  It's owned by a Korean couple and not only offers a range of pastries and breads but also branches out into the cake, macaron and beverage region.
My first thoughts upon entering the bakery was "IT'S SO PRETTY!" I love how the interior design - various vases of flowers placed here and there around the bakery and potted trees hanging near the seating area - really live up to the theme of the name. In fact it's like a little slice of Korea right here in Adelaide.  Bakeries (and most other eateries e.g. coffee shops, restaurants and cafes) in Korea are some of the prettiest and aesthetically pleasing places you will ever find.
